Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Nisha:

Could you please talk us through your journey as an ‘Artist’?

My journey began at a time when I had lost faith. After a series of devastating blows, the purpose of my life felt unclear, almost absent.

Yet, as an artist at heart, I rediscovered my ikigai in writing—creating, imagining, and telling stories through different mediums.

Along the way, I met extraordinary individuals—directors, actors, poets, and writers—who not only shaped my work but also nurtured my craft. It was in their presence, through shared passion and creative exchange, that my journey in the performing arts truly began. In finding my voice, I found my purpose.

What inspired you to become an artist?

I was always an artist at heart. Losses and failures ignited a deep need to create within me. Experiencing the transformative power of performing arts—especially how it helped me heal from trauma—solidified my passion.

Today, as an artist, I strive to create stories that are not only expressive but transformative, leaving a lasting imprint on those who experience them.

Tell our audience more about your failures. How should one bounce back?

I lost my zeal for life—my sense of identity and the desire to move forward. Yet, new creative projects and the characters I encountered compelled me to keep going. I found my way back by directing a play and immersing myself in ideas, poems, and characters that slowly reignited my spirit.

What strategies have helped you grow as a person?

Never stop exploring yourself or embracing growth. Learning what to hold onto—and what to let go of—is essential.

Creation and healing are not destinations; they are ongoing processes. My mantra is simple: nurture a spirit that never dies.

What are the three most important lessons you’ve learned?

I am still on this journey, and its lessons continue to unfold with time. I’ve come to understand the ephemeral nature of life, the quiet beauty of imperfection, and the deep fulfilment that comes from helping others move closer to their dreams.

Each realisation reminds me that growth is not about arrival, but about awareness—and about walking alongside others as we evolve.

Mental health issues are rising in the workplace. Should companies arrange for speakers like yourself?

A CEO who leads with empathy, compassion, and grit is fundamental to building a healthy, resilient team. Through our initiative, House of Happiness, we partner with corporate organisations to design mindful retreats and experiential workshops.

These sessions integrate breathwork, conscious movement, sound healing, and thoughtfully curated interactive exercises—creating spaces where individuals can reset, reconnect, and return to work with greater clarity, balance, and emotional strength.

How challenging is it to create awareness about mental health in Indian societies?

Mental health continues to be a taboo subject across many Indian communities. Through our initiative, Chetna Chakra, we are intentionally creating safe, non-judgmental spaces for teenagers and young adults to explore their thoughts, emotions, and inner worlds.

Our work focuses on encouraging open dialogue, self-awareness, and emotional resilience—helping young people feel seen, heard, and supported at a formative stage of their lives.

What are the keys to success?

Hard work, punctuality, discipline, and self-driven goals form the foundation of sustained growth. These values transcend roles and titles—they are equally vital in shaping personal character and professional excellence.

Do women need safe spaces to discuss mental health issues?

Women need safe, compassionate spaces to share their struggles—ranging from pre- and post-partum depression to the pressures of societal expectations.

Through Chetna Drape, we offer a supportive platform where women can work on their holistic well-being through thoughtfully curated sessions and evolving themes that nurture emotional, mental, and physical health.
